The Positive Effects of Proprietary Undenatured B-Glucans on Growing Pigs

Beta-glucan that is typically isolated from the fungi or yeast, by solvent extraction, a commonly used supplement. However, extraction of beta-glucan these sources destroys tertiary structure compound, and reduces immuno-stimulating efficacy denatured when compared to undenatured (UDBG1). The objective this study was investigate growth performance piglets, weaning, received diets containing (UDBG) for following four weeks (up an average live weight 26.4 kg). conducted with 128 Noroc pigs 24 litters at experimental pig house Norwegian University Life Sciences. There were dietary treatments; one group fed control diet no UDBG, three other groups 0.02 mg UDBG/kg, 0.2 UDBG/kg; 2.0 UDBG/kg. In week 1 - 2, UDBG per kg feed gained 12% faster than diet. numerical increase in gain during first period after weaning indicative improved immune status piglets higher inclusion levels diets. Additionally, highest level (2.0 mg/kg) found have better viability groups, as determined Veterinary staff.
